Sam and Elias first met when Elias bought some drinks to Sam and her girlfriends table. Elias introduced himself a rocket scientist. Sam thought… Yea, Ok! But that was the truth and he won everyone over. They hit it off the next night and went out for a proper date featuring live music and great food. They got engaged and decided to have a Vineyard Wedding. We were lucky enough to get to talk to Sam and Elias about everything leading up to the wedding, including the romantic proposal at Chesapeak City and how their wedding day was everything they both had hoped for.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Samantha is a Early Childhood Special Educator and Elias is a Aerospace Engineer. Samantha and Elias met at Pub Dog Pizza & Drafthouse on a cool summer night in June 2012. Sam had recently moved to Maryland to pursue her Masters Degree at Gallaudet and was out for a night on the town with a few girlfriends/Phi Sig’s whom were visiting. Elias saw this table of girls, whom he thought looked parched and decided to bring them a few drinks (he was very BRAVE!). He introduced himself as a rocket scientist. The group enjoyed a friendly conversation, and the next night they met in DC for another night out on the town. The rest is history…. we have two adorable dogs Piper and Ollie together and recently moved to San Diego, California in November 2016 just weeks after our wedding.
Tell us a little about the proposal and the lead up to the wedding?
Elias proposed on the water on December 26, 2015. He had planned it with Samantha’s family as they were there watching on and snapping photos and videos. He proposed in Chesapeak City, Maryland
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme / vibe?
Elias’s family is from Lebanon and I loved the way the tree silhouette captured such a delicate nature / rememberance of the cedar tree. We selected Navy, Blush and Gold as our colors as Navy and Blush are Samantha’s favorite colors and who does not love a little sparkle/ gold for a wedding !
Favourite detail and/or moment of the day (besides becoming husband and wife of course! or Wife and Wife, or Husband and Husband!)
Our first look. Elias’s expressions were priceless and he could not stop smiling !
Did you undertake any DIY projects, if so what?
Samantha designed the table cards and we selected airplane names for our tables instead of numbers as a pilot themed wedding for Elias my pilot ☺
Any family or religious traditions incorporated into your day?
What does marriage mean to you?
Having someone to go through the adventure of life with as a partner.
Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Follow your heart and have fun! All the stress for one day is not worth it ☺
